Small town saloon

small town saloon

A "departmental retreat" took us this weekend to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, a "lovely New England town." In other words, three streets and a saloon, plus a petty excuse of a port. The people are nice:

she: Hi, what's your name?
me: Pedro (paidrow)
she: bedroom??

Francamente, tss tss. The retreat itself is a mini conference. Major difference from europe: all the talks were interesting, and not always for the subject matter, but for the enthusiastic presentation. The best of the best was F. Jenkins, who discovered last year in the Artic a fish fossil with a neck and fins with wrists - the grandfather of us all. Jenkins was a maestro, a genial story teller, and by the end we all felt like one with our fellow... vertebrates! Save the whales.
